As a photographer I get asked to do portrait photography, I will, but only
on location.  I do not have a studio and backdrops.  They look posed and
unfriendly.  So, I shoot on location, your home, A park, where ever.  I do not
want to "own" your photos.  You pay an hourly rate, based on how far I have
to travel.  You pay for a disc based on how many hours we shoot photos.
You get the disc out takes and all.  You can print as many or few as you
want.  You never have to ask for permission to reprint.  If you loose your disc
and need to get a copy from archives, it is 100.00 flat, no negotiation.  It is
cheaper to order copies at the time of purchase.  With the exception of the
archive retrieval fee, all rates are negotiable.

I have prints available, much more than you can see on a website, so if
you are looking for a particular subject, e-mail or phone me.  Please do not
put my address, phone number, or e-mail on a sales list.
I am Photographer, Designer, Artist, Receptionist
etc.,  Herberta Holly Schroeder.  Yes, Herb is a
woman.
On Top of Everything else, I am obsessed with photographing
lightning.  What I do is dangerous, but I do follow safety rules and I try
and keep as much distance from me and lightning as possible.   This is
one of those don't try this at home things that you will see on this
website.  Lightning is dangerous, if it does not kill you when it strikes
on or near you, it WILL irreversibly damage you.  It is nothing to play
with.  If you are not sure of your safety or location to the storm, do not
try photographing lightning, tornadoes or excessive wind and hail.  They
can kill you or damage you.  Before you ever seek to photograph
storms contact your nearest SKYWARN Spotter group to train as a
spotter.  Know what that storm cell is capable of producing before you
go out in it.

The ever important list of don't try this at home
This is the other don't do this at home without experience,
training, and a lot of patience.  Wild life.  That is the big clue.
Wild.  Animals in parks and zoos are not pets.  They may be
use to seeing humans, but they are not accustomed to being
their environment.  Yes, sounds corny.   But every animal
species has it's own set of behaviors and mannerisms.  What
you may see as an invitation to be friendly may actually be
"Really? You want to challenge me?  I have these huge
pointy things on my head that stab and rip."  They have no
Idea that you want to "pet" them, they think you either want
to mount them or eat them.  That is their world.      Wild
animals also don't understand why you don't know that
pawing the ground is a sign of leave me alone.
Animals don't know their own strength in relation to a human.  The jaws of an ELK or DEER crush acorns
in the shell, they will crush fingers.  The hooves of these majestic animals are sharp.  During mating
season, I saw a female use her front hooves to ward off an intruding young female and the hooves
sliced fur loose cleaner than the sharpest knife would have.  Even squirrels innocent as they look can
bite and do damage.  They eat pine cone seeds, acorns and walnuts.  How do you think they open
them.   One last note.  Human food can bind up the intestines of wild life because of the preservatives
and breading that single chambered human stomachs can digest is dangerous to them, not to mention,
that they get pissed if you run out or don't give enough to the dominant male or female.

I like to use a 300 mm lens to photograph wild life, so I can stay out of their comfort zone.
